Sussex batsman Phil Salt has been handed his England debut in their first ODI against Pakistan at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff this afternoon.
The 24-year-old was one of 18 players to be called up as part of a new-look England squad after the original side, which included his Sussex teammate George Garton had to self-isolate after a covid outbreak within the squad.

But Salt is one of five debutants along with Test batsman Zak Crawley, all-rounder Lewis Gregory, fast bowler Brydon Carse and wicketkeeper John Simpson.
Ben Stokes, captaining the team after being rushed back to action, won the toss and opted to bowl first.
