Albion legend Glenn Murray spoke for generations of England supporters – and a few thousand Albion fans – as the nation celebrated last night.

Meanwhile, his ex-Seagulls team-mate Dean Cox congratulated a striker with whom he used to play for Leyton Orient.

England reached the final of Euro 2020 with a 2-1 win over Denmark.

It will be their first major final since 1966 – and in the first many of their supporters will have experienced.

Former Albion striker Murray, born in 1983, tweeted soon after full-time: “A step further than I’ve ever seen in my lifetime! Amazing achievement, now go make yourselves immortal boys.”

Kasper Schmeichel, the Leicester goalkeeper who has a great record against Albion in recent years, looked like denying the hosts for a while.

He even saved the decisive Harry Kane penalty before the England skipper converted the rebound.

The Dane saved a penalty taken by Murray at the Amex in 2018 and has also denied Ashley Barnes and Neal Maupay from the spot.

Murray used a clapping emoji and appeared to hint at clubs coming in for the Dane as he typed: “Kasper Schmeichel though. Brace yourselves LCFC #Euro2020.”

Former Albion winger Dean Cox sent a tweet to Kane, his former Orient team-mate.

Kane played on loan for the O’s during the early part of his career.

Cox wrote: “From playing with you @HKane @leytonorientfc to now what a career so much more for you to achieve with @England. Good luck Sunday mate whatever happens you have been unreal.”
