Alex Cochrane is off to a good start to his loan stint at Hearts.

Playing at left wing-back, he scored a goal and hit the woodwork from 25 yards in a pre-season friendly.

Cochrane, who signed for the season this week, played the first 73 minutes against lower-league Spartans.

He was reported to have given a polished performance against the Lowland League side, looking comfortable on the ball and making the most of licence to get forward.

Albion staff will be intrigued to see how he fares should he continue in that role and in that tactical set-up.

Head coach Graham Potter has made it clear through actions and team selections as much as anything that he likes the wing-back system with three at the back.

Cochrane has played in that role for Albion under-23s and shown an ability to find room going forward and provide dangerous delivery from out wide.

He could now get the chance to test himself in the Scottish top flight.
