Albion fans saw Leandro Trossard in a new role this evening.

The Seagulls forward operated at right wing-back as he started for Belgium against Finland at Euro 2020.

Graham Potter has tried several players in wing-back roles but Trossard has not been one of them.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez had clearly given him plenty of scope to get forward.

He was often among those waiting in the Finland penalty area as play built up slowly.

His cross eventually led to Axel Witsel shooting wastefully over the bar.

Then Trossard cut inside and sent a left-foot shot not far over the bar from 20 yards.

The Albion man was twice involved in a brisk attack early in the second half which forced a corner as Belgium sought a breakthrough.

He was occasionally tested going the other way.

He showed sufficient tenacity on defensive chores to delay Teemu Pukki when Finland hinted at a rare threat.

Then he won the ball to spark a counter raid which saw Romelu Lukaku finish - only to be ruled inches offside by VAR.

Belgium eventually went ahead after 74 minutes when Thomas Vermaelen's header from a corner hit the woodwork and bounced in off keeper Lukas Hradecky.

Trossard was replaced by Meunier as part of a double change before play resumed.
