Albion remain in talks aimed at keeping Danny Welbeck on board.
They hope to bring him back next season after he scored six goals in limited time last term.
The Seagulls, like other clubs around the Premier League, are surprised at how quiet the summer market has been so far.
But communication with Welbeck’s agent remains ongoing during what is now holiday time for players not on international duty.
Albion have made it very clear to Welbeck’s team they want the player to stay.
As well as his goals, the former England man has proved very popular among players, staff and the club as a whole.
A well-placed source said: “He is the sort of person we love having around. There is a very strong desire to keep him at the club.”
Business remains on hold for the summer so far but Maty Ryan and Christian Walton are expected to bring in transfer fees as they look for more playing time.
Ryan, pictured above, has been widely linked with a return to Arsenal, where he was on loan last season, but it is unclear whether that might be the answer to his quest for more action.
There has been speculation he could join his former Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou, who has taken over at Celtic.
ENGLAND STAR'S PRE-MATCH MESSAGE TO BEN WHITE
Clearing the wage bill of players not featuring for head coach Graham Potter’s side is a priority for the coming weeks.
Albion first choice Robert Sanchez was named among the subs by Spain last night as they kicked off their Euro 2020 fixtures with a 0-0 draw against Sweden in Seville.
