Match of the Day pundit Jermaine Jenas slammed the decision by Albion skipper Lewis Dunk to get sent off in their 2-1 defeat to Wolves yesterday.
Dunk pulled down Fabio Silva when he was clean through on goal in the 53rd minute, leaving referee Jonathan Moss no choice but to give the centre back a straight red.
However, with the Seagulls 1-0 up at that point after Dunk had put them ahead in the first half with a header, it maybe was not the wisest decision to make.
But Jenas insisted that the 29-year-old should have backed goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
Speaking on Match of the Day 2 last night, he said: “It was a ridiculous decision on his part and he will know that now.
“You can only put this down to pure panic because you are 1-0 up and Fabio Silva is going through on goal, you have got to back your goalkeeper.
“You have to kind of roll the dice and say I’ve made my mistake can my goalkeeper get my out of trouble, but he clearly pulls Silva back.
“To do that in the 53rd minute is ridiculous and it has cost his team the game.”
