Graham Potter has revealed questions he believes will be key to securing Danny Welbeck on a new deal.

The Albion boss is “really looking forward to” the final four games of the striker’s current contract.

Potter believes the positive feeling is mutual.

And that could leave the Seagulls with “a good chance” of striking a deal with the former Manchester United and Arsenal man.

Welbeck is expected to start at Wolves as Albion look to rubber-stamp Premier League safety tomorrow (midday, BBC1).

Potter has reiterated that talks must wait until the campaign is over.

But he said: “He is enjoying his football. In training he looks like he’s an 18-year-old, just influencing the game, influencing training, enjoying himself.

“I think that’s the most important thing.

“We will sit down at the end of the season and try and find the right solution.

“But for us, for me as a head coach, it’s about Danny enjoying his football.

“Does he feel comfortable here? Is it getting the best out of him?

“If the answer is yes, then we’ve got a good chance that, in the summer, we can find the right solution.”

Welbeck took his time over a decision where to spend this season before joining Albion five games into the campaign.

Albion would love to tie things up rather more quickly.

Potter said: “We focus on finishing the season, I think that’s the right thing for everybody - for us and for Danny - and then everything becomes clearer.

“He has had a full year, full experience with us and then we have to find the right solution for him and for us.

“That will be the challenge in the summer but until then we focus on the games, focus on him continuing to enjoy his football, continuing to show the quality he has shown.

“I’m really looking to the last four matches."
