Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is not surprised to see one of his former players, Yves Bissouma doing so well for Albion.

Bissouma played under Bielsa at Lille for sevens before the Argentinian had his contract terminated at the French club.

Bissouma has become a key player for the Seagulls this season and has received plaudits for his performances in the middle of the park.

But Bielsa has recalled his memories of him and believes he has proved what a ‘great player’ he is.

He said: “He Was a great player and has confirmed it.

“It's not the same to have potential and to show it.

"When I had the chance to work with him he had a lot of resources and here he has shown them completely.

“He has gained recognition due to his resources.”

Heading into the game Albion sit 17th and seven points above the bottom three heading into their clash with Leeds.

A win at the Amex for Graham Potter’s side would pretty much secure their Premier League status next year, but Bielsa feels they are should not be in the bottom half of the table.

He said: “The results sometimes coincide with the performances and other times they don't. Brighton is a team unfairly in the bottom part of the table.

“All the parameters you can consider to evaluate a team, how they attack and defend, where they spend most time on the pitch, possession, the losses of the ball or keeping possession, their offensive intensity: all the values you can analyse, they all position highly than they occupy.”
