Albion's financial director, David Jones has announced that he will retire on the July 31, after a career spanning 40 years.

Jones has been with Albion since January 2012, having previously worked at Plymouth for a short spell and worked at Southampton for 12 years.

But he has enjoyed his time with the Seagulls.

Jones said: “It has been an amazing nine-and-a-half years, so many highs and a few lows, but overall some great memories.

“We had a few near misses, before the amazing day at the Amex when we beat Wigan in 2017, and then the first Premier League game against Manchester City and the first win over West Bromwich Albion. Those are moments I will always cherish.

“I am hugely grateful to Tony and the board to come and work at such a brilliant football club, and over that period of time the staff have also been superb.

"I have met and worked with so many good people and made a lot of great friends at the club.

“It has been a pleasure working alongside everyone and the club is so well run and in such good hands, I am looking forward to watching the club and team flourish in the seasons to come.

“It has been an amazing chapter in my life, but now it is time for the next one and I am looking forward to spending some more time at home with the family.”
