Taylor Richards came off the bench to score his ninth goal of the season, which denied Peterborough the chance to secure automatic promotion to the Championship in their 2-2 draw at the Weston Home Stadium last night.
The 20-year-old had started Rovers last three matches but had to settle for a place on the bench against the Posh.
Richards came on at the start of the second half with Doncaster 2-1 down, and Peterborough knowing a win would clinch promotion to the Championship.
But just 13 minutes after coming on he scored the equaliser.
Jason Eyenga-Lokilo got the better of Posh left-back Dan Butler and drove down the by-line.
He then cut the ball back to Richards, who finished really well from close range to make it 2-2.
That was the midfielder’s third goal in his last six matches and his seventh in League one.
His goal against Peterborough also means he is now second on the list of Rovers top scorers this season with nine goals in all competitions.
Only forward Fejiri Okenabirhie (13) has scored more, than the former Manchester City youngster.
With three games remaining this season, Richards could even reach double figures before the end of the end of the campaign.
