We got the thoughts of these long-time Albion fans on the defeat at Bramall Lane.

And we asked whether they see one or both of Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Jose Izquierdo playing a role in the coming weeks.

What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance?

Colin Beales: In a game that had the chance to pretty much seal our Premier League survival we put in a lacklustre performance. Isn’t that the Brighton way?

James Heasman: The performance was unacceptable. It looked like the players showed a complete disrespect to Sheffield United and felt they could win by turning up. There was little passion or urgency, and I’m fairly certain previous managers (Alan Mullery or Micky Adams), would have them in running on their day off after that debacle.

Tim Ayling: it was surprisingly flat, especially in the first half. Given a win would have probably been enough to stay up, the lack of urgency was strange. Having said that, we should have at least got a draw, but poor finishing once again cost us.

Alan Brownings: For all the wins against Liverpool and Tottenham, the two results against Sheffield United show why this side is no better than the ones under Hughton. It may be better to watch but the table doesn’t lie, we don’t have the mettle in a scrap and our finishing is woeful.

Who was your pick of the Albion players?

Colin Beales: No real awesome performers, I’ll go for Bissouma again as best we had on the day.

James Heasman: Jahanbakhsh possibly, but for me none of them played to their normal levels, and they all owe Graham Potter a performance.

Tim Ayling: Bissouma was good again, and I thought Jahanbakhsh was a threat when he came on. But not a great deal to shout about this week.

Alan Brownings: I think it has to be Mr Reliable Lewis Dunk for me. I think we’re much weaker when Webster and/or Burn are alongside him.

Did Jahanbakhsh and/or Izquierdo do enough to be options in the quest for threat and pace out wide in the run-in?

Colin Beales: Jahanbakhsh had a pretty decent performance when he came on, but we’ve been here before with Ali. I think I’d stick to others before him.

James Heasman: No. Sadly, due to injuries I think Izquierdo will struggle, and despite a couple of good crosses, again sadly, Jahanbakhsh is not quite good enough at this level. Our ongoing problem remains finishing rather than creativity.

Tim Ayling: Well we need to try something to get goals, as it’s a real struggle at the moment. Three games without a goal suggests they have to be an option.

Alan Brownings: I so wanted Jahanbakhsh to succeed but he hasn’t got it in him and lacks a yard of pace. Izquierdo is a great player but lacks match fitness, I think it will be next season before he’s back to his best.
