How Albion’s players rated against Sheffield United.

Robert Sanchez 7/10:

Had very little to do in the game but could not do much about the goal.

Pascal Gross 5/10:

Not one of his finest games. He was given the role of right wing back as Albion had to re-adjust their defence with Ben White suspended.

But he drifted inside too much and his set piece delivery was not up to his usual standard.

He was then replaced by Alireza Jahanbakhsh in the 66th minute.

Adam Webster 5/10:

Another tough night for the defender. He didn’t quite look himself and that was summed up with his loose touch in the build-up to David McGoldrick’s winner.

Lewis Dunk 7/10:

Played some nice passes but had a tough job marshalling a makeshift defence without White and Dan Burn in it.

Joel Veltman 6/10:

Tried to get forward when he had the opportunity. But at times he tried to force passes and lost the ball.

Jakub Moder 7/10:

Was recalled to the starting XI with Dan Burn being left on the bench.

Got forward on many occasions and tried to make things happen particularly in the second half when he was moved further up the pitch.

Thought he had scored his first goal for the club, but it was ruled out for him being offside in the build-up. Was replaced by Aaron Connolly in the 66th minute.

Adam Lallana 6/10:

A quiet night for the midfielder. He did show some nice touches but struggled to get on the ball as much as he would have liked.

Saw his effort saved by Aaron Ramsdale early on in the second half.

Yves Bissouma 8/10:

One of the bright sparks on a tough night for the Seagulls.

He drove forward and into the box on a number of occasions and looked one of their biggest threats going forward.

He also had a few efforts at goal, the last of which he had put just wide.

Leandro Trossard 6/10:

Was not at his best again.

Showed a couple of brief glimpses in the either half and tried to link up with Jahanbakhsh down the right when he came.

But he was replaced by Jose Izquierdo in the 82nd minute.

Danny Welbeck 6/10:

Did not get the service he would have liked.

Pulled off a nice flick to set-up Maupay for his chance. Was unfortunate that a bounce took Jahanbakhsh’s cross away from him.

Neal Maupay 5/10:

A poor night in front of goal for the striker.

He Had two effort saved by Ramsdale and then missed a glorious chance to get the Seagulls level after he scooped Jahanbakhsh’s cross off from close range.

Substitutes:

Alireza Jahanbakhsh 7/10:

An impressive impact from the winger. He came on for Gross and looked lively and was a real threat down the right.

He also put in some brilliant deliveries to set-up chances for both Welbeck and Maupay.

Aaron Connolly N/A:

Did not really get into the game after coming on for Moder.

Jose Izquierdo N/A:

Great to see the winger back in action in the Premier League as he came on for Trossard late on.

Almost pulled off one of his wonder strikes after making a great run but his effort from 30 yards out was well saved by Ramsdale.
