Albion head coach Graham Potter felt his sides performance was not up to their usual standards in their 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United.
The Seagulls struggled to break down the hosts in the second half and take their opportunity to move at least eight points clear of the bottom three.
But Potter felt they lacked quality, especially in the final third.
He said: “It was a disappointing evening for us.
“I don’t think our performance was as good as it can be and as it has been, a little bit below par I would say.
“It was a poor goal to concede and then that makes it difficult against a team that is defending deep.
“I didn’t think we had enough quality I would say in the final third to create as good chances as we needed to.
“At the same time I thought we deserved a goal, but it wasn’t to be and we are disappointed with the result.”
