To get the lowdown on Albion’s opponents tonight, Sheffield United, I spoke to Danny Hall, who covers the Blades for the Sheffield Star:

Is it all about preparing for next season for the Blades?

It has been for a while, in all honesty. United's relegation has felt inevitable for many months now, so there was no surprise when the final nail was hammered into the coffin now.

It is now about how United go down - can they take the shackles off a little and feel a bit more pressure now they are officially down?

On the other hand, getting out of the losing habit they are now fully immersed in will not be as simple as some think. But any good performances, or even a victory or two, that they can take into the Championship will hopefully mean that there isn't much of a hangover from this season when the new one starts.

Just how difficult is that without a manager in place for next season?

It's obviously far from ideal, because ideally the new man would be in situ to start putting his plans in place and get people used to his methods.

But I can also see the attraction of looking to start afresh in the summer.

One issue is that United have a few players out of contract this summer, and so it might be too late to keep them if the new manager decides he fancies having them around.

It also puts them behind the 8-ball a little in terms of recruitment, with clubs whose managers are in place looking already towards the summer transfer window.

Do you expect there to be a massive overhaul of the squad?

I think it'd be naive to think that there won't be any big departures, unfortunately.

John Lundstram will leave for free, and I'd be amazed to see Sander Berge stay and play in the Championship when he is a player with Champions League experience on his CV.

Others like John Egan will surely attract Premier League interest, while the new manager will want to put his stamp on the squad with some additions of his own.

So it could be a big summer at Bramall Lane as the squad that has served the club so well begins to break up.

Who will be the player that Albion need to keep a close eye on?

It's a difficult question because United have been so poor, but top scorer David McGoldrick will be looking to end the season on a high and Rhian Brewster is desperate for his first goal in United colours.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see those two start up front, and hopefully now United are officially down a few more young players will be given a chance.

If so, look out for Iliman Ndiaye and Zak Brunt, two of the most promising youngsters from the academy.

How will they line-up?

If I was the manager, which thankfully for United I'm not, I would go (3-5-2) Ramsdale, Ampadu, Egan, Bryan, Bogle, Brunt, Norwood, Fleck, Osborn, McGoldrick, Brewster.

What will the score be?

It'd be easy to predict another United defeat but I wonder if the shackles may come off a little. I'll sit on the fence and go for a draw!
