Graham Potter says there is no coaching manual for what Albion have gone through this week.

But the head coach sees it as just the latest unprecedented challenge of his time in charge.

Potter was pleased with his side’s performance at Chelsea on Tuesday as the European Super League storm raged around them.

There will be a calmer backdrop at Bramall Lane tomorrow as the Seagulls face Sheffield United.

Potter said of the past week: “I’m not going to lie, I don’t think it was straightforward.

“If you think about the last year and the things you’re not prepared for – there’s no (UEFA) Pro Licence for Premier League football in the middle of a global pandemic, for example, and playing with no supporters and then everything that has been going on the last couple of days.

FRUSTRATION SHOWS FOR FLORIN ANDONE

“You have to digest it all and make sure you have enough information, as much information as possible, and you have a responsibility to the club, the game, to yourself.

“On a personal level it’s challenging but that’s part of life, that’s part of the job and then the players the same.

“They look at the situation, concerned for the game, concerned for how these sort of things can happen, as competitors, as people who love football.

“You want to compete on the pitch and want things to be decided by what you do on the pitch rather than what happens somewhere else in terms of profit, finance or anything else.

“Thankfully we have a wonderful, professional, sensible group who have really good characters and have the ability to deal with the frustration and the worry and that’s credit to them.”
