Jakub Moder could enjoy a big night at Wembley - and make a small piece of Albion history.

The midfielder stands a good chance of returning to the Poland side as they face England in a World Cup qualifier tonight (ITV, 7.45pm).

He would become only the second Albion player from outside the United Kingdom and Ireland to appear against England while with the club.

And he would be the first such player to actually start a game against the Three Lions.

The Argus:

Davy Propper has twice come on as a sub for the Netherlands against England since joining Albion in 2017, in a friendly in Amsterdam (above) which also involced Danny Welbeck and in the Nations League semi-finals.

Moder was below his best as Poland drew 3-3 in Hungary last week and was left out of the side which then beat Andorra 3-0.

But boss Paulo Sousa has generally been impressed by the former Lech Poznan man and it is thought there is a good chance he will bring him back tonight.

Albion management and fans would be intrigued to see how he fares against Gareth Southgate’s men on the back of a promising full Premier League debut versus Newcastle recently.

Crucially, they will also hope he avoids the coronavirus problems which have affected the Poland squad.

Moder is seen as an obvious replacement for Mateusz Klich, one of three Poland players ruled out due to positive Covid tests.

Striker Robert Lewandowski (knee) also misses the match.
