Percy Tau has thanked Albion for allowing him to enjoy game time with South Africa.
The Seagulls forward shrugged off a knock to score for his country yesterday.
His fine finish secured a 1-1 draw with Ghana in an AFCON qualifier in Johannesburg.
Tau is facing a ten-day quarantine period when he returns to the UK from his red-listed homeland.
He said: “I was grateful that the communications with Bafana (South Africa) and Brighton were successful and it allowed me to come.
“I know that in some teams it was difficult to allow the players to come over.

“But for me it goes smoothly to reach an agreement, even though I still have to go and quarantine for ten days.”
Tau has been on the bench for Albion of late and has not played a Premier League minute since the win at Leeds two months ago.

South Africa’s fixtures, which continue on Sunday away to Sudan, give him a chance to build match fitness.
Tau is delighted Graham Potter let him go.
He added: “It’s good to have somebody who tries to understand the needs of the player.
“I’ve got the balance with him to say, ‘You can still go and get some game time even though we will lose you for some time’.”
Tau, who will miss his club’s game at Manchester United, drove into the Ghana box to fire home his 13th goal for his country with an angled shot.
He is now fifth on the all-time list of South Africa goalscorers.
