On-loan Albion striker Ryan Longman has set his sights on reaching double figures for AFC Wimbledon this season.

The 20-year-old, who is on a season-long loan at the League One side, scored a brace on Saturday in their 2-2 draw at home to Charlton.

Albion prospect Ryan Longman scores two for AFC Wimbledon

That took his tally to the season for eight goals in all competitions and with 11 games left this season, he is aiming to reach double figures.

He said: “That is definitely the target (getting 10-15 goals this season) for me to get some more goals and assists.”

Longman has been a regular for the Dons this season, having only missed two of their 36 league matches so far.

He was given a much-needed rest in their draw against Bristol Rovers earlier this month where he came off the bench and only played 25 minutes.

Since then, in his last two games, Longman has scored two goals and got an assist and he was full of praise for the backroom staff for the role they have played in managing his game time recently.

He said: “The backroom staff have been brilliant; they have been looking after me as I have played a lot of minutes. The rest against Bristol Rovers did me a bit of good and I have just come back stronger.”

After their draw against Charlton, Wimbledon sit 23rd in League One and are just a point from safety, with a game in hand over the teams around them in the table.

But Longman is aiming to help the Dons avoid the drop.

He said: “The big one is to stay up obviously, but in the next few games we have got to pick three points and start getting some wins.”
