Aaron Connolly has been told his international trip can benefit both him and his club.

The Albion striker has joined up with the Republic of Ireland after recovering from a cracked rib.

He was not included in the 20 to face Newcastle United.

Head coach Graham Potter said that was not due to injury or a recent breach of lockdown rules, which was dealt with in-house.

The Albion boss said︰ “He has been really good.

“He cracked his rib but he has trained the last few days with us and he has trained really well.

“He knows he has made a mistake.

“He knows he has let himself and the team down and he has accepted that and we have dealt with it and moved on.

“I felt he needed a few more days of training before he is available for the bench.

“I think he will get that when he goes away with the national team.

“It is good for us and good for him.”
