Graham Potter has told his “amazing” Albion players to keep picking up points.
The Seagulls go into the international break six points clear of the Premier League drop zone after their 3-0 win over rivals Newcastle.
Potter has been thrilled by his team’s response to a recent run of two points from a possible 15.
But he knows their buffer might have been reduced by the time they next play, at Manchester United on April 4.
Asked whether Albion’s squad felt they should be aiming for something more than avoiding 18th place, Potter told The Argus: “They can have whatever thoughts they want but the reality of the situation is we have to get points.
"We haven’t got the points we feel we could have got.
“You can’t feel sorry for yourself about that.
“You have just got to keep working and change the situation.
“We have had a tricky few weeks where things have gone against us results wise and that can put you under pressure and we have had to deal with that. But credit to the players.
“They have been amazing in terms of the response to (defeat by) Leicester.
“Going to Southampton, who are a good team, and playing again in the type of game it was and perform with the character and courage they showed was amazing.”
Fulham, beaten 2-1 at home by Leeds on Friday, visit Aston Villa on April 3. Newcastle host Tottenham the following afternoon before Albion walk out at Old Trafford.
