This is how Albion players rated as individuals in the 3-0 win over Newcastle.

There would also be a high mark for how they worked as a cohesive unit.

They are having to play with only three genuine defenders but the strong base provided by that trio allows options further forward.

It also helped that Newcastle did not have a genuine wing threat.

ROBERT SANCHEZ 6/10

A quiet evening. Cleanly held one low shot which seemed to be going wide anyway and was comfortable with ball at his feet, although his longer deliveries sometimes lacked precision.

BEN WHITE 7/10

Quickly asserted his authority at the back and had an assured evening as Albion had to go with three defenders. Was always in control.

LEWIS DUNK 7/10

The centre-piece of the back three and exuded calm. Much of his evening was spent on the ball looking to start passing moves.

JOEL VELTMAN 8/10

On the left of the three, pretty much as a left-back at times. Chipped and curled a superb pass into the run of Trossard for the first goal.

PASCAL GROSS 7/10

That wide role gives him space to measure some clever passes into runners, a little like Bruno used to from right-back. His crosses were not always accurate but he delivered from wide for the third goal.

YVES BISSOUMA 8/10

Back to the dominant form of a few weeks ago with his effective running and covering and generally simple passing. Quickly got his mind on the job after his unfortunate involvement in the Hayden injury.

ADAM LALLANA 8/10

Kept things ticking over midfield and played some clever short passes to get colleagues moving. It feels like his legs and footballing brain are always on the move.

JAKUB MODER 7/10

Or 7.5 if we could! A first Prem start and should have had a first goal inside five minutes (which explains why not a higher mark). Was more of a left midfielder, or even old-fashioned inside left, than wing-back as he moved inside Welbeck and Newcastle took a long time to work that out. Got into some dangerous areas and looked good on the ball.

LEANDRO TROSSARD 8/10

This is what he can do - and should do more often. Given a central role which put him in an area from where he could be a big threat. Brilliant movement, first touch and finish for the goal which gave Albion their sought-after lead. Had already produced some trickery at times to open spaces and linked well for the second goal.

NEAL MAUPAY 8/10

Superbly controlled volley to put his team into a three-goal lead, guiding the ball home without needing to smash the leather off it. Might have done better with a first-half chance but was very lively, often wide on the right, and eager to win the ball back when needed.

DANNY WELBECK 9/10

Employed wide on the left as part of the system and made it work perfectly. A superb pass to release Moder set the tone and his goal was expertly taken from a few yards outside the box. Was also involved in the third as he came short, got on the ball and spread play. A very clever performance.
