Graham Potter wants to give Albion supporters more to cheer as they push for safety.

But he is confident most fans are already appreciative of the efforts being made to establish the club in the elite.

They might have a better idea of their Premier League survival chances after hosting Newcastle tonight (8pm, Sky Sports).

Head coach Potter said: “It is hard for me to say I have got an understanding of the fan reaction, because we don’t see the supporters, so that’s really difficult.

“Judging by the small sample of people I meet in the streets and bump into, they are very, very supportive.

“But I would not be naive enough to say that is representative of the whole community.

“What you know in this game is that, regardless of what you do, there will be people that don’t like you and will disagree with you.

“That is how it is and sometimes you can’t please everybody, certainly if you’re not getting results that everyone is going to be really happy with, as we are not at that stage yet.”

He added: “I respect everybody’s opinion, I respect the fact that they’ll be supportive or not.

“I think most of the supporters I have met have been really supportive, really understanding, but you should never take that for granted and we want to keep working and trying to improve.”
