Albion have been told to “zoom out” of their nightmare week – and start putting points on the board again.
The Seagulls are preparing to face injury-hit Leicester City on Saturday as tension increases in the Premier League survival battle.
Potter has told them there can be no hangover from a testing week which saw them lose in traumatic style to Crystal Palace and West Brom.
The head coach said: “You have to zoom out. Put it in a bit of perspective.
“Understand the competition can deliver you highs and it can give you massive lows.
“We are suffering at the moment, there is no denying that, because we have had a tough week.
“But there is enough character in the team, there is enough personality in the team, to take this tough week and use it as a positive, use it as a way to go forward.
FANS' THOUGHTS ON WBA TRIP - AND PENALTY TAKERS
“Keep together, keep finding out about each other, keep developing and in the end things turn around for you.”
Albion are big under-achievers according to the Expected Goals formula but Potter says that means little to him.
He added: “I have no thoughts on that at all.
“I am only bothered about the main table, which is the one I’m trying to help us improve our position in.
“I think those other metrics give you some information about other things around your performance. The most important stat is the one at the end of the match and that is the one we have to keep fighting for.”
