We’ve never seen anything like the incident which robbed Albion of a goal today.

The rest of a miserable afternoon at the Hawthorns? It was all too familiar.

Alarm bells will be ringing louder among Seagulls fans than for a long time this evening after their side went down 1-0 to West Brom.

They have still never won away to the Baggies in the league.

But they had chances to put that right even after Kyle Bartley headed the hosts into an early lead.

Two penalties hit against the woodwork.

An open goal missed by Aaron Connolly (who was also denied by a good save earlier on) and at least two more very presentable chances wasted.

All that on top of a goal by Lewis Dunk from a quickly-taken free-kick which was disallowed, surely wrongly, and will be much debated.

Even without that injustice, Albion had more than enough possession, promising positions and chances to have put this one to bed.

Instead, they have been dragged right back into a scrap.

As in their previous defeat here in the Premier League three years ago, poor defending at an early corner cost them dear.

The rest? We’ve seen it all before.

This just took it to extremes.
