Derby manager Wayne Rooney admits he took a risk playing on-loan Albion defender Matt Clarke in their 2-0 win over Huddersfield last night.
The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes and kept his tenth clean sheet of the season as the Rams moved eight points clear of the bottom three.
Clarke had missed their 2-1 defeat at Watford on Friday due to a hip injury and Rooney admitted that it was a risk to play him against the Terriers, but luckily it paid off.
He said: “Yeah Clarkey was touch and go for tonight (Tuesday) but I felt it was a massive game for us, so I wanted to take that risk with him.
“We did that and he has come through the 90 minutes and he is a big player for us.”
