Graham Potter has revealed why Moises Caicedo was on the bench in the FA Cup.

He has cooled excitement that the recently-arrived Ecuador international could be closing in on a Premier League chance.

But he hopes he has gained valuable experience from being part of the trip to Leicester City.

Potter has previously said there are no expectations for the 19-year-old for the first two months as he settles into life far from home.

Albion’s head coach today confirmed his thoughts had not changed.

Potter said: “He has made a really positive first impression, a really good impression, but I don’t think the two or three days he has been with us so far should change that.

“There was an opportunity to get him with the group and to experience what we’re about on a matchday with the boys.

“We had a couple that we needed to leave behind anyway in terms of getting over fatigue, so it was a nice time for him to have that experience.

“But, as we said at the start of last week, he’s a young guy acclimatising to the UK, us, the Premier League and his team-mates and we have to give him that time.”
