Moises Caicedo joins Albion as a newly-crowned award winner in his homeland.
The 19-year-old midfielder has signed for the Seagulls on a four-and-a-half year deal.
He looks set to take the No.25 shirt in Graham Potter's squad.
It is a sign of Caicedo’s development that he has just been named the football writers’ player of the year in Ecuador.
He took the title for 2020 thanks to his great form with Independiente del Valle and his international breakthrough.
Thirty journalists from cities across Ecuador voted for their top ten players of the year, the best receiving ten points.
Caicedo tallied 266 points from the possible 300.
His two closest rivals, Byron Castillo and Damián Díaz, both played for Ecuador’s champions Barcelona Sporting Club.
