Alexis Mac Allister has been urged to keep enjoying his football – and let his quality show.
The Argentina international is establishing himself in the Premier League a year after being called in from his loan spell at Boca Juniors.
He has overcome a series of challenges and is now featuring regularly for Albion.
Mac Allister is expected to start as Tottenham visit the Amex this evening (7.15pm).
Albion boss Graham Potter took time over using Mac Allister last year – and then saw the season put on hold by lockdown after his brief debut at Wolves.
The attacking midfielder has since been affected by illness and injury at times.
Potter said: “We are happy with him. He has had a frustrating time for various reasons.
“It is not so straightforward just to settle from another country and continent, adapt to the Premier League, adapt to the new life, team-mates and club.
“You can pick up things along the way that set you back but he's a fighter, a good character and now we are seeing his quality.
“I'm really pleased for him. He has had a period where he has had some games and a run in the team.
WHY POTTER WOULD BE TEMPTED TO STAY AT HOME AS SPURS VISIT
“The injuries have not stopped him which maybe it did in the past.
“That is part of adapting to the step up. He is enjoying his football and when players do that, it's generally positive.”
