Albion will play behind closed doors at Fulham on Wednesday.

Plans to have 2,000 home fans at Craven Cottage were ruined by news that London will be placed into Tier 3 as part of measures to control Covid-19.

That will come as a setback to the Cottagers and their boss Scott Parker, who praised the role of the fans in yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Parker said: "The fights we're going to have at times, they're going to be vitally important. I thought they were incredible for us.

"They were massive, absolutely massive. Our season ended for the fans after lockdown last year which was disappointing. At the end of the season, our fans weren't there to experience it and that was bitterly disappointing.

"To have the fans in here again was incredible. I thought the atmosphere from the start and the drive and passion they showed – they probably showed exactly what I speak to the team about. An intent, a drive, it's cliched and it sounds basic but a never-say-die (attitude), and they epitomised that."

Albion look set to be one of only four Premier League teams who can admit supporters from Wednesday, along with Southampton, Liverpool and Everton.

There are suggestions Leeds could be added to that list.
