Graham Potter said he had no arguments with the red card shown to his Albion skipper.
Lewis Dunk was sent off for a lunge as he tried to score a late winner at Selhurst Park.
He now misses home games versus West Brom and Burnley as well as the trip to Tottenham.
Albion boss Potter felt his team should have won the game.
But he said: “We have to be honest, I think it was a reckless challenge.
“It was excessive force and it was a red card.
"Knowing Lewis, he has just had a header from a corner and is just trying to follow through and block something.
“But it’s not a good challenge and we have to learn from that and be better.”
