Wilfried Zaha converted after Tariq Lamptey was penalised.
Referee Stuart Atwell pointed to the spot as Michy Batshuayi went down dramatically.
VAR Kevin Friend reviewed the incident and saw no obvious error.
Albion had made a bright start with Yves Bissouma and Ben White going close.
