Albion prospect Ryan Longman wants to break into the senior set-up after securing a new deal.

The 19-year-old from Redhill has signed a two-year contract.

He has been with Albion since impressing scouts in a junior tournament at Waterhall at the age of 11 and then coming through a six-week trial.

Longman said: “The club have given me two years to prove myself and try and make it. It gives me the chance to focus on my football and offers me that security.

“I want to make a name for myself, to show to the manager that I am ready for the first team and regular men’s football.”

Longman says he is learning fast from development squad boss Simon Rusk, adding: “Under-23s football is a big step-up from the under-18s.

"The speed of the play and everything is a big change, but working under Simon is really good.

“He is a fantastic coach to have. He’s very precise in his work and he helps you improve your technical ability.”

Longman can play wide or up front and started as a lone striker in the Leasings.com Trophy win at AFC Wimbledon a year ago.

He made his senior debut as sub in the Carabao Cup tie against Aston Villa last term.
