Albion could look to the Spanish League in the bid to strengthen their left side.
A well-placed source in Spain has told The Argus they are among the clubs interested in Alfonso Pedraza.
The 24-year-old has one year left on his contract at Villarreal and spent last season on loan at Real Betis, who could not afford the £8 million plus add-ons for which they could have bought him.
Betis hope to have Pedraza, who comes from close to Seville, back next term but face significant competition for his services.
He can play as a left-sided midfielder, full-back or wing-back and was on loan at Leeds in 2017.
The association was brought to an end when Leeds failed to go up.
A close follower of the Spanish and English leagues has told The Argus Pedraza would be well suited to a wing-back role in the Prem.
Albion are likely to have several players in mind as they look at options to add pace to the left side similar to how Tariq Lamptey has livened things up on the right.
