Former Albion striker Alex Dawson has died at the age of 80.
The one-time Busby Babe at Manchester United was a bustling centre forward who scored 29 goals in 65 league and cup games during his three years in Sussex.
He helped a side managed by Freddie Goodwin challenge strongly for promotion from the old third division in 1969-70.
Goodwin, who hailed from Aberdeen, arrived at the Goldstone from Bury for £9,000 at the age of 28 in 1968 and stayed at the club until 1971.
He had previously played in an FA Cup final for Preston.
Dawson’s goals haul for Albion included four in one match at Hartlepool.
