Boca Juniors president Jorge Amor Ameal says Alexis Mac Allister is staying with his club until June.
Ameal today told listeners to Radio Nacional in Argentina that the attacking midfielder would not be linking up with Albion this winter.
However there was this evening no confirmation, or otherwise, from this country that an agreement has been reached over Mac Allister's immediate future.
Ameal said: “Mac Allister will keep playing until June. Then we will speak to people from the English team, who were at our match on Sunday at La Bombonera. This has all got to happen.”
Mac Allister last night offered another reminder of his blossoming talent as he scored the winning goal his country.
His razor sharp first-half finish for Argentina under-23s helped them beat their counterparts from Ecuador 1-0 in the Olympic qualifiers.
Argentina are through to the second stage of qualifying with one group game still to go.
Mac Allister has scored in both his appearances so far and is playing a starring role.
Albion secured a work permit for him last week but there has never been any guarantee he would join Graham Potter's squad this winter.
