How Albion players rated against Sheffield Wednesday....
DAVID BUTTON 6
Kept Albion on terms with a super save in first half added time and scrambled to keep out a Reach cross or shot.
EZEQUIEL SCHELOTTO 6
A strange afternoon in which he played at right-back, further forward on that flank and roaming around up front with mixed results.
LEON BALOGUN 5
Asked to fill a right-back berth as shape was changed and did okay before making way for a striker at the interval.
SHANE DUFFY 7
One of the few to do himself justice but maybe should have hit the target with a headed chance to equalise.
ADAM WEBSTER 6
A quiet game. Did not catch the eye for any poor moments or any rumbles forward which might have helped pierce a gap.
GAETAN BONG 5
Plenty of scope to venture forward and saw a header tipped over. But he is not a wing-back and failed to make the most of promising positions.
DALE STEPHENS 5
Among his poorest displays in blue and white with the ball. Was reprieved by a Button save in first-half added time but struggled to get his side moving and lost possession ahead of the only goal.
YVES BISSOUMA 4
A big chance to take centre stage, as in the third round last year, but lost possession too easily and too often. Very disappointing because there seems to a real player in there somewhere - but we don't see enough of it.
STEVEN ALZATE 6
Penalised for a high boot for the decisive free-kick but also showed some good poise on the ball in tight areas.
PASCAL GROSS 6
Set-piece delivery and a pass through for Maupay might have led to a goal. Tidy on the ball but lacked the tempo (or maybe options) to trouble Wednesday often.
NEAL MAUPAY 6
Could do with a goal – and his desire to score one saw him shoot when he might have passed after robbing Iorfa. But put himself about.
SUBS
AARON CONNOLLY 5
Sent on at break to spark the attack without desired impact.
ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH
Unfair to expect magic every time. He did okay, no more than that.
BERNARDO
Not a bad cameo in tough circumstances. Livened things up down left.
