Albion striker Lorent Tolaj has set a new record for the most goals scored in a single under-19 Euro qualifier.
The 18-year-old scored four in each half as Switzerland beat Gibraltar 16-1.
Tolaj has netted eight goals in seven league appearances for Albion under-18s this season and scored for the under-23s when they beat Tottenham 4-1 in September.
Switzerland needed to win by 15 goals to be sure of going through to the elite stage of the competition and duly did so, despite having a player sent off in the first half.
But defeat for the Republic of Ireland to Austria meant even a draw would have been enough.
Gibraltar had previously lost 14-0 to Austria and 13-0 to the Irish.
Tolaj, who also has Kosovan background, is in his second season with the Seagulls having previously played for FC Sion.
His national team coach is former PSV and Milan midfielder Johann Vogel.
