How Albion's players rated against Everton...

MATHEW RYAN 7

A very sharp save low down when Iwobi's shot deflected off Webster. His willingness to start a quick counter attack was fundamental to the winning goal.

MARTIN MONTOYA 6

Got forward with good intentions to add attacking width which can be lacking in this formation but has got to be better than this with his passing.

ADAM WEBSTER 6

Chipped in the pass which led to the penalty but it was a tricky afternoon defensively. A bit unlucky on the own goal, although it would not have happened had he got to the header ahead of Richarlison, and exposed for Everton's second.

LEWIS DUNK 7

Kept his side on level terms with a first-half recovery block to deny Walcott after initially being beaten by Richarlison's turn and looked as good as ever on the ball.

DAN BURN 7

Entrusted with a tough match-up against Walcott out wide but generally came through it and strode forward to play his part in the winner.

DALE STEPHENS 6

Probably not at his most influential this time but still some nice passes, not least that which gave the move for the winning goal a bit of go-forward.

The Argus:

DAVY PROPPER 7

At his best when drifting into spaces with awareness of what is around him, looking to bring others into play, such as in the move which brought the disallowed Gross goal.

STEVEN ALZATE 7

Restored to the XI and impressed from the start with his skills, control and confidence, all in tight areas. Was the outlet for the matchwinning move having earlier gone close himself.

PASCAL GROSS 7

Got things started with a thumping free-kick and was just offside when he produced a nice finish in open play. But was not at his best for much of the time.

The Argus:

AARON CONNOLLY 7

Good movement and also showed another side with clever, strong hold-up work when the ball was played into him. Involved in the key penalty incident.

NEAL MAUPAY 7

Was praised by his boss for his work closing down and defending from the front as much as for his calm penalty conversion.

SUBS

EZEQUIEL SCHELOTTO 6

Back in action and didn’t he enjoy it? Put himself about in the right wing-back role.

LEANDRO TROSSARD 7

Tried plenty and looked like he could beat a man, although not everything came off. Livened things up and was a big part of the winner.

GLENN MURRAY N/A

Was poised to tap in the winner until Digne intervened.
