Alireza Jahanbakhsh has been praised for his efforts by his head coach.

Graham Potter says he has been delighted by the Iran star’s attitude and approach.

But that does not necessarily mean a place in the Seagulls’ matchday 18.

Jahanbakhsh is not expected to feature when Everton visit the Amex tomorrow.

Head coach Potter said: "He is disappointed. He has trained well and trained hard but everybody wants to be in the team.

“He is a good lad and I like him a lot.

“He is professional, he supports the lads no problem at all around the club.

“He has been fantastic in that regard but, unfortunately, that’s the nature of the job as well.

“There is competition and there are players and I have to make these tough calls.

“He has just got to be patient and keep working.”

Jahanbakhsh started the final two games of last season, against Arsenal and Manchester City, but he has yet to play a Premier League minute this term and has struggled to make the bench.

Potter looked at him as a right wing-back option early in the campaign
