Albion fielded their youngest ever line-up on Wednesday - for ten minutes.
The team’s average age was 21 years, 91 days between the second and third substitutions during the 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Aston Villa.
The record for a starting XI is still that which played Stockport in 1993 (21 years, 153 days).
Albion’s average age at kick-off on Wednesday was 22 years, 35 days.
Club historian Tim Carder went through the records to see how that compared with previous line-ups.
Wednesday was the first occasion Albion had ten teenagers in a squad and there were seven on the pitch once Shane Duffy went off injured.
Previously, the most on the pitch was six, for two games in January 2007 (versus Millwall in League One and Bristol City in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy).
Tim added: "There was also a wartime game on December 26, 1942, when Albion played six teenagers but they were exceptional circumstances and it doesn’t really count."
