Graham Potter took charge at Albion and said: “I’ve had worse birthday presents, that’s for sure.”
Potter, who turns 44 today, has been appointed as head coach on a four-year deal.
He is joined by assistant head coach Billy Reid, first team coach Bjorn Hamberg and assistant head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay.
Potter, who took Swansea to tenth place in the Championship last term, added: “It is a fantastic opportunity, as you can imagine.
“I’m very excited, very proud and I am aware of the responsibility I have.
“I am looking forward to getting further and further into the football club and eventually working with the players when they get back from their well-earned break.
“In the meantime, getting in the planning and preparation we need for a Premier League season.”
Potter revealed he had been impressed by what he heard from Albion over two days of talks.
He added: “I’ve had a couple of days talking with Tony (Bloom, chairman), Paul Barber (vice-chairman) and (technical director) Dan Ashworth and I am really sold on their vision for the club and how they spoke about taking things forward. I am, of course, delighted to be here.
“(Albion) have been on a wonderful journey for the last ten years since Tony has taken over and especially going into a third successive season in the Premier League.
“There is a lot of good work that has been done here and it is my responsibility to build on that good work.
“I’m looking forward to the next few days and meeting as many people as I can and then start the planning process.”
