ALBION boss Chris Hughton has urged his players to deliver a performance the club can be proud of at Wembley.

The odds are stacked against the Seagulls in tomorrow’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City (5.30).

Hughton says what matters most is the way his team perform on the big stage.

He told The Argus: “I think it’s everything. We are very realistic how huge the task it is. Firstly for me it’s about a performance.

“If we are able to put in a performance that we are proud of it gives us a chance, if we don’t then, of course, it gives us no chance.”

Hughton is confident the semi-final showdown with City will have no adverse effect on Albion’s main aim to stay in the Premier League.

“Probably no, because the Cup games tend to be very much one-off games,” he said. “We understand the level of the team we are up against, what the odds are.

“So I think whatever the performance or result, I would be confident that come Monday morning the heads would be very focused on a tough home game against Bournemouth.”

Albion have a clear week after Wembley until Bournemouth’s visit the following Saturday which launches a burst of five matches in a fortnight, including vital visits by fellow strugglers Cardiff and Newcastle.

Southampton will move above them if they take at least a point from Man City’s title rivals Liverpool at St Mary’s tonight.

Albion would slip further down the table if Burnley avoid defeat at Bournemouth tomorrow.
