Albion loanee Ezequiel Schelotto has had surgery on a serious knee injury suffered in Italy.
Schelotto had an operation to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee after suffering injury playing for Chievo at Torino in Serie A last Sunday.
The operation has been described by Chievo as “perfectly successful”.
Schelotto had just forced his way into the Chievo starting line-up after going out on loan in January.
He played a full 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw against Genoa and would have been in contention to face AC Milan this weekend.
It is his second stint with the Verona-based club. He is under contract with Albion until the summer of 2020.
Schelotto admitted on Sunday he was frightened about how serious the injury could be.
He posted on social media today: “Now to recover as I really want to play football again.”
Schelotto thanked Professor Pier Paolo Mariani and his medical team for a successful operation.
