ALBION boss Chris Hughton has hit out at the "harsh" FA Cup bookings rule which will keep Yves Bissouma out of the quarter-finals.
The Mali midfielder starred in the 2-1 win against Derby in the fifth round, setting up first half goals for Anthony Knockaert and Jurgen Locadia.
He was later booked, his second yellow card in the competition.
Under new rules introduced this season that means Bissouma is suspended from the quarter-finals.
Hughton told The Argus: "I must admit it wasn't one I thought of when he got booked. Sometimes you forget what the rules are.
"It's really disappointing for both parties. For him, because he has done really well in the competition and of course for us because it means it's a player that we won't have.
"And I think we've seen what a player he is and what he can bring to the team.
"For me it does feel harsh and it was a bit of a surprise when I was told at the end of the game."
Bruno, booked in the closing stages, Locadia and Stephens are all on the brink, another caution away from missing a potential Wembley semi-final.
Albion, ball No.8 in tonight's quarter-final draw following the clash between Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, are one step away.
Hughton said: "That has to be the incentive, to go as far as possible. We know for clubs the like of ourselves it's more difficult.
"For any team of our level to get through to a semi-final is a real achievement, because most don't do it. There is an opportunity for us and others to be able to do that."
