Chris Hughton says Albion will have to pass the ball better and be a goal scoring threat to improve their poor record at Huddersfield.
The Seagulls have lost five, drawn four and won one of their last ten visits to the Terriers.
The last two convincing defeats came under Hughton in the Premier League and Championship in the past two seasons, while the sequence also includes a 7-1 drubbing.
Hughton, unhappy with Albion’s second-half performance in possession in the 1-1 home draw against ten-man Leicester, admits they will have to be better to combat Huddersfield’s energy and high-pressing intensity.
He told The Argus: “We need to be good in possession and we need to be a threat going there.
“They have changed some aspects of their game. They are capable at times of going a little bit longer to the front than perhaps before and they can adapt their game.
“But they are a good side, a good crowd at home. We will have to be good on the ball, certainly a goal scoring threat, because I don’t think you can go away from home anywhere and sit back for big periods and not be vulnerable at some stage.”
Albion will be without record signing Alireza Jahanbakhsh against Huddersfield, Crystal Palace at the Amex on Tuesday and away to Burnley four days later.
The £17 million winger has not recovered from the hamstring injury which sidelined him from the late defeat at Cardiff before the international break and the Leicester deadlock.
Hughton said: “At this moment he’s not training with the team. We’re hoping he is going to be training next week so won’t be available for the two upcoming games.
“Then really it’s about Burnley. I’m not sure whether he will have done enough so possibly will miss these three games.”
Hughton has stressed the importance of the hectic period.
He said: “For all of us, when you have got Saturday, midweek, Saturday, anybody’s position in the league can change and for some it can change dramatically. So it’s a big week.”
