ALBION are interested in bringing South Africa’s player of the season to the Premier League.
The Argus can confirm the Seagulls are tracking Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau, who was recently named top man in his domestic competition.
Tau was joint top scorer in the recent South African Premier Soccer League campaign with 11 goals.
His agent is on the record as believing Tau, 24, would be better served at this stage by moving to a league outside of the European elite.
But, while no bid has been made, Albion remain interested in the South Africa international who also scooped players’ player of the year honours recently in the top flight.
The pacey Tau finished the club season with 13 goals and 17 assists from 38 appearances across all competitions.
He has netted five times in 12 internationals.
Albion were last night still working on the finer points of their agreement with Glasgow Rangers which will take defender Connor Goldson to Ibrox.
Goldson, a Liverpool fan, is believed to be keen to team up with recently-appointed Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and his assistant Gary McAllister.
He could have to strike up a defensive rapport with another new signing as Rangers target Croatian international Nikola Katic from Slaven Belupo as a possible sidekick.
Rangers moved quickly to get their man.
The Argus understands Albion have also had interest from other clubs in Goldson but no formal bids.
