Shane Duffy has been urged to make the most of his fleeting absence from Albion’s defence.
The Republic of Ireland central defender is banned for Watford’s visit tomorrow after collecting his fifth booking against Burnley at the Amex.
Duffy has already made 22 appearances this season for club and country. His suspension gives him a mini-break until the Boxing Day trip to Chelsea.
Manager Chris Hughton told The Argus: “I think that is what he has got to use it for. Shane has been excellent for us.
“But he’s had four international breaks where he has played in all four. He has played in every game here.
“He will say different - he wants to play every single game - and so would we because he’s in good form but these things happen and when they happen you’ve got to benefit from the break.
“Not that it’s much of a break, but maybe the break from the pressure of that one game.”
Connor Goldson is favourite over Uwe Huenemeier to make his first Premier League appearance as Duffy’s deputy after heart surgery earlier this year.
Hughton said: “In regard to Connor he has trained very well, He was unfortunate last season to miss a large period, he’s been ready for some time.
“He played in the under-23s last week and that’s why those not in the side have to train hard and be prepared. When the opportunity comes you have to be ready for it.”
