Albion are set to end their hunt for a central midfielder by smashing their transfer record to sign Dutch international Davy Propper.
The Argus understands the Seagulls are making good progress on a deal to bring the PSV playmaker to the Amex.
The fee will easily eclipse the £5.2 million to buy Australian keeper Mathew Ryan from Valencia.
Propper, formerly with Vitesse, starred for PSV last season.
The 25-year-old, with a reputation as one one of the best passers in Eredivise, nearly joined Zenit Saint Petersburg in January.
Albion were on the brink of breaking their transfer record again last month by signing central midfielder Renato Neto from Belgian club Gent until the Brazilian failed a medical.
