Tom Brennan reckons he has toughened up racing in National League speedway.
Now Eastbourne fans are hoping that toughness helps him overcome a bout of tonsillitis and dazzle them again at Arlington.
The high-flying reserve is a doubt for the visit of Plymouth tomorrow (7.30pm) after feeling unwell this week.
Brennan, 15, struggled into school for a maths exam yesterday and is taking medication.
IT First Eagles will take no chances with him – and probably don’t need to against the Devils.
But, if he is fit and raring to go, they will hope to see the sort of display which took him within one race of a maximum last time out at home to Stoke.
Speaking to theargus.co.uk after victory over the Potters, he reflected on missing a maximum in heat 15 - and the unbeaten run which went before that.
He also highlighted the balancing act between concentrating on a blossoming speedway career – and getting through those exams.
