Glenn Murray says winning the Championship would mean “a massive amount” as he targets a title double with Albion.

Top-scorer Murray believes the Seagulls would be “foolish” not to be highly motivated for their final-day decider at Aston Villa.

Silverware will be handed out on the pitch after the game on Sunday, be it for first or second place.

Murray would love to add the second-tier prize to the League One crown he helped the club secure six years ago just ten miles up the M6 from Villa Park, at Walsall.

The man whose second-half goal put Albion en route to a 3-1 win that day said: “The title means a massive amount.

“It does to everyone. We would be foolish not to try and win the title.”

Murray tweeted simply “First job done...” the day after promotion was secured with the 2-1 win over Wigan.

Albion, 14-1 outsiders for the title on the eve of the season, have since missed two chances to put themselves out of reach of red-hot favourites Newcastle.

The Football League have made arrangement for post-match presentations both at Villa Park and St James’s Park, where Newcastle play Barnsley.

Murray has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet Championship player of the month prize, along with Burton defender John Brayford, Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen and Reading striker Yann Kermorgant.

But his main focus is picking up a champion’s medal along with his team mates.

He said: ”It’s something you can cherish a long time.

“Those things can’t be taken away.

“We aren’t thinking about two or three months from now.

“We have got the chance to be champions. It’s still in our own hands.”
